Enyan Abaasa's chief has asked the government to partition the district into two.

Osagyefo Kwame Akonu X, the paramount chief of Enyan Abaasa Traditional Area, has requested that the district be divided into two since it has outgrown the constitutional criteria for a municipality.

According to the 2010 census, the anticipated population in 2018 would be 136,470.

This is significantly in excess of the 95,000 required to be elevated to the statutes of a municipality, necessitating its division into two component constituencies within the same Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam district in order to assure the deepening of democracy and the expansion of the district's governance structure.

At a durbar to conclude their 2018 AKwambo festival, Osagyefo Akonu X appealed to the chiefs and people of the traditional region to seek cash to complete their traditional hall projects held at Abaasa.
The festival, themed "The Role of a Leader in Development," coincided with Osagyefo Akonu X's Silver Jubilee celebration.

It was attended by his colleague chiefs in the central region, led by Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI, Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, paramount Chief of Abeadze traditional area and Vice President of the National House of Chiefs, Nana Appiah Newama Council of State representative of the Central Regional, and many other notable personalities.

According to Osagyefo Akonu X, a population of this magnitude cannot be successfully represented and served by a single constituency, especially when the constituency is made up of 96 villages divided into nine big electoral zones, each of which has 47 electoral areas.

"It is worth noting that this constituency is made up of five traditional councils." The paramount chiefs met in Ajumako and agreed on the need to partition the constituency in two.

"We have petitioned the local government Minister several times on the need for such a division, but our efforts have been futile." "The petitions we sent cannot be found at the Ministry," he said.
He also stated that the Enyan Tradition area has three councils: "Enyan Abaasa, Denkyira, and Enyan Maim Traditional Councils" with 87 communities and "Ajumako and Essiam Traditional Councils" with 109 communities under the Akumak0-Enyan-Essiam district Assembly, which qualifies for such a division.

This, he noted, will go a long way toward ensuring that all people in the district actively engage in the government system.

He also mentioned three councils in the Enyan Tradition area: Speaking on the theme, Osagyefo Akonu X stated that a leader's job in development is to ensure peace, harmony, and justice in his society, and that the chief, as a prosecutor and judge, an arbiter and arbitrator, a mediator, and a ruler, must be trustworthy, honest, transparent, and unwavering.

"Here in Enyan Abaasa, we have now put in place structures that have contributed to the unity, stability, and development of the area after 11 years of protected chieftaincy dispute between his predecessor and Abasaaman."

"I am proud to announce that there is only one stool in the traditional area with a chieftaincy dispute pending at the traditional council, stating that there is no chieftaincy litigation pending before the central regional house of chiefs, the national house of chiefs, or the Supreme Court."

He stated that via his efforts, the Police Station in the region, which had been closed down in 1996 due to conflict between the police and some of the kids in the area, had been reopened.

Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI Omanhen of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area and President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs commended Osagyefo Akonu X and his people on a peaceful celebration on behalf of the complete members of the Central Regional House of Chiefs.

He praised Osagyefo for his exceptional leadership in bringing development to the area and challenged the entire people of the traditional area to continue to make it a joint obligation to help build their area.
